This destination is the only one to show how the daily life of the population was through the remains of housing structures, warehouses, a temazcal or sauna bath, a kitchen, ceramic vessels and remains of food, plants and domestic animals.

According to experts, Joya de Ceren is clear evidence of the daily life of a Late Classic Period village that was buried by the eruption of the Loma Caldera Volcano, approximately 650 A.D. Joya de Ceren is part of the Mundo Maya Organization route, which includes Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.
