El Salvador begins process to sign Free Trade Agreement with China

The President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele announced in a press conference that El Salvador has begun talks to sign the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with China, the second largest economy in the world.

Likewise, the President said that for a long time the country was isolated from this exchange that will open a wide range of opportunities.

The President explained that there is a sign of solidarity that the People's Republic of China has with El Salvador, donating 1,450 tons of fertilizers for salvadoran farmers and 930 tons of wheat flour to be delivered to small and medium bakeries.

Once the Treaty with China is signed and becomes effective, a market of more than 1,500 million people will be opened for El Salvador.

He said that all the donation received today from China will directly benefit bakers and farmers, but will also indirectly benefit all salvadorans and their economy.

The chinese ambassador to El Salvador, Ou Jianhong, explained that in recent years bilateral trade between China and El Salvador has increased greatly. On this basis, China is working on the process of establishing a Free Trade Agreement between this Asian country and the salvadoran nation.
