Salvadoran student excels in Cybersecurity Specialization Program at regional level

SISAP, a regional leader in Cybersecurity, trained university students and IT employees through a complete Cybersecurity Specialization Program.

The study program was delivered in a virtual format and was completely free of charge for participants. SISAP offered scholarships to students in their 4th year of Systems Engineering or related career, and IT employees and collaborators of clients who wanted to learn or improve their knowledge in Cybersecurity.

The fourth graduating class was made up of 29 students from 8 countries in the region, such as: El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua,

Costa Rica, Panama, Dominican Republic and Colombia. The complete training lasted 8 and a half months, which consisted of a common area of 5 months, a specialization area of 2 months, supervised practice of 1 month and a certification process.

"In SISAP we wish to contribute to society in the training of new professionals in Cybersecurity, this specialization program is part of our social responsibility actions, and this fourth promotion is a great achievement for us, as it means taking firm steps in the proposal of new training models in the Cybersecurity sector, which will promote new and better work spaces for professionals in the guild and better trained personnel for the private sector" assured Mauricio Nanne, CEO of SISAP.

During the months of training, students were trained in Information Security, Python and Linux Fundamentals, Scripting, Cloud Security, Project Management, International Security Certification, Penetration Testing, Risk and Compliance, Incident Response, Forensic Investigation, Project Implementation, among other topics.

During the graduation ceremony, Antonio Cabrera, director of IRSI (Information Risk Security Institute), shared that SISAP is aware that there is an area of opportunity in the training of young and skilled talent, which affects the shortage in the Cybersecurity workforce.

"In SISAP we are committed to the training of skills and professionals in cybersecurity, we seek that students through this specialization can have a better job opportunity and we want our customers to have better trained professionals in the IT area", said Cabrera.

The three most outstanding students are students from universities in El Salvador and Costa Rica achieved averages between 93 and 95 points.

1. Mario Rivera, student at Universidad de Sonsonate in El Salvador: 95 points final average.

2. Isaac Villalobos, student at Universidad Internacional de las Américas of Costa Rica: 94 final average points.

Kimberly Solis, student of Grupo Mutual, Costa Rica: 93 final average points.

The Cybersecurity Specialization program costs approximately US$6,000 per year for each student. The complete training of the 29 students in this class totaled approximately US$170,000.
