Nestlé Professional implements innovative antiviral protection technology in Nescafé machines

Written by Evelyn Alas

On the occasion of the Covid-19 pandemic, consumers are looking for more peace of mind, in terms of safety and hygiene, when ordering a coffee to go, whether at work or in convenience stores. Nestlé Professional, a world leader in food and beverage solutions for the restaurant and hotel sector, is innovating with the incorporation of antiviral and self-disinfecting antibacterial protectors on the touch screens of its Nescafé coffee machines.

With the objective of offering new solutions, around the sanitary situation we have faced in recent years, Nestlé Professional has partnered with Nanoveu, a leading technology research company, to customize the NanoshieldTM antiviral and antibacterial screen protector for this type of company's coffee machines.

"We want to support Nestlé Professional customers in every possible way, so that they can serve our products in a safe way. With this innovation, we seek to offer them tools that will help them to continue with their activity in this moment of reactivation for their businesses", emphasizes Jorge Villatoro, Commercial Manager of Nestlé Professional.

How does it work?

The latest-generation NanoshieldTM self-sanitizer is composed of a PET film with a special resin layer containing an active copper component. This shield has undergone rigorous scientific testing to demonstrate its antiviral and antibacterial properties.

For Nestlé, ensuring the safety and quality of its products is a priority. In fact, the company leveraged its R&D, virology and food safety expertise at the Nestlé Institute for Food Safety and Analytical Sciences located in Lausanne, Switzerland, to scientifically validate several antiviral solutions.

"We continue to explore a wide range of novel solutions, such as ordering through apps, touchless machines and screen protectors to help our customers. Screen protectors are a great solution because they can be easily used in today's beverage machines and complement the hygiene measures we already have in place in our coffee solutions", concludes Jorge Villatoro, Commercial Manager of Nestlé Professional.
