Use technology to achieve your year-end health and fitness goals

Written by Evelyn Alas

Eating healthy, exercising more, getting more sleep, avoiding stress and losing weight are the year-end resolutions that begin to surface in the minds of many as december approaches. The wellness movement continues to grow as people realize its long-term benefits.

Thanks to technology and artificial intelligence, it is no longer necessary to have a gym membership or even a personal coach to follow healthy lifestyle patterns. Samsung's smartwatches have become more than just a timekeeping accessory, they have become a powerful tool to achieve your health goals.

Galaxy Watches are water resistant and track everything from daily steps, calories burned, heart rate, to sleep quality and time, and more. They can calculate your daily activity to give you an idea of whether you're staying on a healthy track.

You can even connect it to the technology of friends and family so they can track their progress and give you encouragement or motivation. Having access to this technology allows you to set up a personalized exercise and habit routine, and even support you in a healthy diet suited to your physical profile.

Galaxy Watch4

With the recent launch of the new Galaxy Watch4, announced globally in august at Galaxy Unpacked, we have the first smartwatch to measure users' body composition.

By integrating with the Samsung Health app, the Galaxy Watch4 transforms into a powerful fitness and physical activity hub. The sensor suite can automatically identify that a physical activity started, for example.

You can select from several options the type of exercise you will execute, follow its evolution and create challenges, among other functions. Every week, it generates and offers a report of the activities and information so that the user can know how his evolution is developing.

Better if it is in a team

The Group Challenge feature allows you to train with friends, no matter how far away they are from you, helping you stay motivated and connected by training together. With this update, you can now add your friends or family members to a challenge, competing to see who can go the farthest or fastest, working as a team or competing against each other individually. Track your own competition rankings or see how you're doing as a team, all from your wrist.

Restful sleep

A restful night's sleep gives us more willingness to face the day and is fundamental to creating a healthy routine. The Galaxy Watch4 integrates a set of sensors that assesses the user's movement while sleeping during the night, the amount of oxygen in the blood and even uses the smartphone's microphone to detect snoring. From this, the smartwatch automatically sets the sleep time, the type (whether it is light, heavy or REM) and creates a score from 0 to 100 to rate the quality.
