Leading creatives tell how Samsung's Lifestyle TVs transcend their traditional function by adding art and decoration

Written by Evelyn Alas

Going beyond the conventional idea of what a TV is, Samsung's leading range of Lifestyle TVs presents true indoor décor pieces that allow users to express themselves in their own spaces. Whether they are looking for a TV that can function as an artistic frame, a screen to display content in portrait and landscape format, or one whose design speaks for it, there are options for everyone in this range.

To learn more about how consumers around the world are enjoying their Samsung Lifestyle TVs, Samsung Newsroom reached out to a variety of influencers and pioneers within different creative industries to share their experiences.

1. Adéle & Maxime, french graphic designers interested in how objects work in their interiors: "They mimic the décor, becoming an aesthetic element in their own right, with simplicity and lightness"

Q: As designers and illustrators, what are your thoughts on the design of Samsung's Lifestyle TVs?

A: The design of Samsung TVs is very interesting because, once in place, they become a modern and active object in our interiors. They blend in with the décor, becoming an aesthetic element in their own right, all with simplicity and lightness.

Q: Samsung has partnered with some artists for the design of its Lifestyle TVs, what do you think of such partnerships those combine technological innovation with artistic creativity?

A: The idea of opening up the design of an everyday object to creators is something very important to us. Technological objects can lose their simplicity and poetry by merit of their design, but by collaborating with creative people, we can bring this issue to a first plan to solve it.

2. Virro & Lola, a duo of mexican-french photographer and creative professional with a passion for travel. "Samsung Lifestyle TVs combine art, aesthetics, interior design and entertainment, they go far beyond the function of the TV, something truly revolutionary".

Q: Along with your professional activities, you are known for your joint Instagram account where you share your favorite travel experiences. What do you think about The Serif with which you can visualize your own media and memories?

A: We used to hate the black TV screen in our living room, so Ambient Mode is one of the resources we love most about The Serif. It's really great that Samsung presents new content for Ambient Mode on a regular basis, but mostly we're interested in showcasing our own media and having it on display for us and our guests.

Q: Virro, as a photographer what appeals to you most about Samsung's Lifestyle TVs?

A: First of all, thanks to their QLED displays, the picture quality is impressive. Also, Samsung Lifestyle TVs combine art, aesthetics, interior design and entertainment - they go far beyond the function of a TV, which is really innovative.

Q: Lola - what do you like most about The Serif?

A: That it's a TV that doesn't look like other TVs. Being passionate about interior design, I think The Serif is a beautiful, unique and bold addition to a living space.

3.- Kyal & Kara, australian renovators who like to think outside the box: "The ability to view your own or world-renowned media on The Frame demonstrates that there are infinite ways to create looks and feels unique to each individual".

Q: How does Samsung lifestyle TVs impact your daily routines and activities at home?

A: With two children and an active lifestyle, we really value our relaxation time together as a family, and Samsung Lifestyle TVs play an important role in this. On the weekends we love our time together to watch movies, and the kids love picking out artwork from Art Store for The Frame we have in our playroom. It's a great way for them to take ownership of the space.

Q: Samsung's The Frame combines technology with aesthetics to deliver seamless TV experiences. What are your favorite features of the TV?

A: The two standout features for us are the slim, streamlined design of the TV and the customizable bezel. Our goal is to create spaces that evoke emotion when you walk into the room, and the ability to watch your own or world-renowned media on the TV demonstrates that there are infinite ways to create a look and feel unique to each individual.

Q: What advice would you give to users looking to match their Samsung Lifestyle TV to their interior?

A: We have three key tips. Tip 1, function first: figure out how you would like your TV to be displayed. The Serif is an excellent choice for angled spaces where wall mounting or units are not an option. Tip 2, find your inspiration: from color palettes to other décor pieces, make sure you know what's important in your space. Tip 3, create a style that's unique to you: ask yourself what mood you're going for with your space. For example, if you prefer a minimal interior style, The Frame with a white bezel would be the perfect choice.

4.- Lotte Meister, an american interior decorator and set designer who loves it when function meets style: "The Serif is retro and modern at the same time and doesn't take up too much visual space like a TV on a console table would."

Q: Samsung's lifestyle TVs are developed to fit any interior space and aesthetic. What do you think about the design of The Serif? What do you like most about it?

A: The Serif's simple lines and cool feel make it a decorative element on its own. The sloped ceilings in our bedroom didn't allow for hanging a flat screen on the wall, but we wanted to be able to watch TV in bed. The Serif was the perfect solution. It's retro and modern at the same time and doesn't take up too much visual space like a TV on a console table would. The hidden wiring is great too - the decorator and set designer in me loves the look!

Q: What do you like best about The Frame?

A: We have three homes throughout New York State, each with a completely different aesthetic. We have a The Frame TV in each of them and it looks great in each location. I love it because it looks like another piece of art and doesn't scream "Look at me, I'm a TV!". The choice of finishes available for The Frame makes it work in every style of home.

5.- Jin-woong Son, Korean furniture designer with a passion for interior harmony: "The Frame's bezel is so refined that the joints fit together perfectly when switched, like a puzzle piece snapping into place".

Q: As a professional furniture designer, do you have any special criteria in mind when choosing a television?

A: I would never choose a product that doesn't harmonize with the space in which it will be placed, which is why I currently use The Frame, as I like how it can be used as a real artistic frame when the screen is off.   On top of that, you can easily change the color of The Frame's bezel to match your changing interior any time you want, something you can't do with most electronic devices. In addition, the bezel joints are designed at a 45° angle and, as a furniture designer, I find this incredibly sophisticated. The bevel is so refined that the joints fit together perfectly when the bevel is changed, like puzzle pieces snapping into place.

Q: These days, there is increasing demand for Lifestyle TVs that can be seamlessly integrated into the user's space. What are your thoughts on this trend?

A: In the past, the TV used to play the role of bringing all family members together in the living space while providing entertainment. These days, however, the role of this equipment has become much more about providing multifaceted entertainment experiences, in addition to serving as a piece of furnishing furniture. For those living in a small space, The Serif is the perfect choice as opposed to, say, a huge wall-mounted TV, as it makes use of the space it occupies by serving as a sophisticated interior decor element that stands alone as a piece of furniture.
