On vacations it is important to comply with recommendations to avoid emergencies

Written by Evelyn Alas

The Central Government, through the Dirección Nacional de Protección Civil, recommends following a series of recommendations to avoid emergencies, especially for families who plan to go on vacation and leave the house alone.

Many accidents usually occur in houses alone due to the carelessness of leaving electronic devices connected to the sockets, when they overheat, short circuits occur and can deteriorate the devices, even the origin of a fire.

To avoid this type of emergencies, the authorities of Civil Protection and the Fire Department of El Salvador, recommend families to disconnect all electronic devices, if possible lower the switches that give electricity to the whole house.

There are thermal devices that supply the passage of electricity to different sectors of the house, you can make the choice of which one to disconnect to reduce the possibility of an accident. In addition, it is essential to disconnect the propane gas supply to the stove with the valve located on the chimney, in order to avoid leaks.

It is worth reiterating that the first response institutions of the Central Government keep working throughout the vacation season and are ready, if necessary, to intervene in emergencies nationwide.

Another recommendation to avoid accidents is to make sure not to leave candles burning, many people make that mistake, with the idea that they will go out by themselves, however, the risk is too great.

While most salvadorans enjoy the vacation season in honor of the Divine Savior of the World, there is a team of more than 72,000 collaborators from different government institutions working for the safety of tourists and to avoid emergencies.
