The workshop was developed in 3 face-to-face sessions. It included the following topics: Eco-efficiency, Waste Management and Integrated Waste Management Law and Promotion of Recycling, Eco-efficiency: Energy and Water.
The SMEs that participated in the workshop learned about the implementation of eco-efficiency, its benefits, the environmental impacts it generates, and that the reduction of water and energy consumption and waste reduction not only helps the environment, but also helps them to be more efficient in their production processes.
"Another relevant topic they learned was how to prepare their waste management manual, which will be required by the Law of Integrated Waste Management and Promotion of Recycling", informed Maythe Cornejo de Rivas, FUNDEMAS Environmental Area Manager.

FUNDEMAS is an institution committed to the sustainable development of El Salvador and works articulating different efforts to build a solid sustainability strategy in each of the companies.
In recent years, Walmart has invested in renewable energy generation systems in its Distribution Centers through solar panels that generate 662 megawatts per hour per year, which is equivalent to the annual consumption of 190 Salvadoran families and avoids the emission of more than 113 tons of greenhouse gases.
In addition, with the #SinBolsasPorFavor program, it has stopped giving out more than 42 million single-use plastic bags per year.
The company placed recycling stations for its customers in stores in Constitución, Santa Elena and Santa Ana, in alliance with Nestlé and Recicla 503, recovering more than 27,294.8 kilograms of recycled material.
