At the event, the President of AES El Salvador, Abraham Bichara, explained that although fuel prices are high and climate change is affecting many, the country will not suffer energy shortages.

Bichara explained that the Central Government has implemented measures to maintain the prices of electricity, with the objective of not affecting the economy of the salvadoran population. In addition, they have tried to maintain the minimum levels of fluctuation in the energy input.

He said that in El Salvador the energy matrix is diversified and the electrical capacity that it has so far is double what the country needs to cover the demand, in which there are enough sources for the Salvadoran nation to get ahead without problems.

In 2020, El Salvador's total installed electrical capacity was 2360 megawatts powered by a combination of fossil fuels (32.67 %), hydroelectric (24.31 %), solar (20.10 %), biomass (12.44 %), geothermal (8.66 %), wind (1.53%) and biogas (0.29%).

COREN 2023 is one of the most emblematic events held by ASI, since 2013, when the 1st Congress was held, it has been growing successfully, innovating, having greater geographical coverage, with a high level of content, speakers and experts.

"Energy is a transversal axis, it is important for development, and that for energy management to be successful in its promotion, all sectors are called to get involved and collaborate", ASI President, Eduardo Cader.

This year, ASI seeks to strengthen the basis for the use of clean energy and energy efficiency with a clear focus on sustainability.

Energy has a fundamental role in society and in the sustainability of the planet, so clean energy and energy efficiency are vital both to contribute to the protection of the environment and for the development of countries.
