According to the institutions, the strategy generates cost and time savings for all actors in the logistics chain in El Salvador.

Likewise, the head of MINEC, María Luisa Hayem, explained that the lack of a favorable business climate was what, for years, kept El Salvador at the lowest levels of economic growth.

Trade facilitation relates to the simplification and harmonization of procedures and information flows associated with the import and export of goods.

The Comité Nacional de Facilitación de Comercio is made up of 13 government institutions and 7 private sector associations, with whom they are already working together to accelerate the simplification and reduction of procedures, improve regulations, provide online services, eliminate barriers to trade, and publish commercial information, among others.

The Secretary of Trade and Investment, Miguel Kattan, explained that the strategy will lead to the development of an agile, simple and modern business system, in order to generate greater competitiveness.

He also explained that the strategy was approved by the National Trade Facilitation Committee and is led by the institution he heads and the Ministry of Economy.

The strategy will establish the projects that will be working in the coming years in infrastructure, simplification and modernization of procedures, use of technology, among other strategic and priority projects for the country.
