Entrepreneurs who evade payment of ISSS or AFP will face justice

The Ministerio de Hacienda (MH), together with the Attorney General of the Republic launch today phase 4 of the Anti-evasion Plan, which will strengthen joint actions in the fight against evaders and crimes against the Treasury.

The minister, Alejandro Zelaya explained that they are going to reinforce what they promoted in 2019 and that they have generated good results, they are about US$1,800 million additional that are collected thanks to the frontal combat to evasion and smuggling.

He said that with this, significant results have been achieved according to several multilateral organizations, including the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), since 2021, El Salvador has the highest tax collection in Latin America with respect to its Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

According to the official Zelaya will present to the Legislative Assembly a reform to Article 219 of the Tax Code to not issue the tax solvency to any debtor of the Instituto Salvadoreño del Seguro Social (ISSS) or the Administradoras de Fondos para Pensiones (AFP).

"We will not allow bad businessmen to continue stealing the sleep of our workers. We will not allow them to continue affecting the working class", assured the minister of Finance, Alejandro Zelaya.

He affirmed that they will also work jointly with the Instituto Salvadoreño de Pensiones (ISP) and institutions such as the Superintendencia del Sistema Financiero (SSF) to initiate a frontal attack on the evasion of employer's contributions.
