Financial Commission presented reform to the Ley del Historial Crediticio before the Assembly

The deputies of Bancada Cyan, who are part of the Financial Commission, presented an initiative to reform the Ley del Historial Crediticio in order to protect the data of the users of the financial system and avoid abuses by credit bureaus.

This initiative seeks that the credit bureaus connected with the sector that is supervised by the Superintendencia del Sistema Financiero and within 24 hours to update the information when the person has already made full payment.

This initiative, part as a result of the audit of the agencies, credit bureaus such as: Equifax Centroamérica, S.A. de C.V.; Transunión El Salvador and Infored S.A de C.V, so the SSF points out that Equifax has other products such as the 360 report, Inquilino Perfecto, Programa de Alerta Crediticia, which are not authorized by the institution.

"In this package of reforms we are protecting and reinforcing the right to informational self-determination, it is a constitutional right that we salvadorans have. We are also watching over the rights to honor and privacy", said Dania González, deputy of Nuevas Ideas.

Congresswoman Dania González explained that this proposal was elaborated with the inputs provided by the Superintendencia del Sistema Financiero (SSF), Banco Central de Reserva (BCR) and the Defensoría del Consumidor (DC).

"From these reforms the credit bureaus will have 180 days to update all the information that has not been updated", explained William Soriano, deputy of Nuevas Ideas.

Congresswoman Dania González said that with this initiative, companies will continue to operate under new and better rules, rules that respond to the interests of salvadorans.
