The good positioning that El Salvador has obtained has allowed it to host the Junior World Surfing Championship in 2022 and the ISAWorlds 2023, affirmed the minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez.

During a television interview, the minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, informed that income, as of june, in the tourism sector has come close to the year-end projection.

"We have half a million visitors, we are on the right track, and we have almost US$800 million in foreign exchange, which was the projected figure for the end of the year. Why do we already have that figure? Because visitors are staying longer in the country", said minister Valdez.

According to the official, salvadorans abroad are planning their stay in the country not for a week, but for longer.

"We are at the level of attending the tourist, the demands, we have the capacity. We are articulated with the private enterprise to have that capacity", she emphasized.

Verifications of compliance with sanitary measures are carried out daily in restaurants and hotel accommodations, said the head of Tourism. "We have found compliance with biosecurity measures in all places", she stated.

The recently approved transitory decree prohibits concerts, rallies, sporting events with public and patron saint festivities to reduce the probability of Covid-19 contagion. This provision allows the tourism industry to continue operating in full compliance with the prevention measures, which will allow the country's economy to continue its recovery.

The Minister emphasized that work is being carried out at the national level on infrastructure projects, energy distribution, wastewater treatment plants and connectivity.

"As for the recreational parks of the Instituto Salvadoreño de Turismo (ISTUSV), we are with a limited capacity of 50%", she said.

She highlighted that soon the Hotel Cerro Verde in Santa Ana will be reactivated. It will be managed by a 100% salvadoran company.
