The decision of the Central Government to have increased the number of agricultural subsidies will also contribute to this, the interim Minister of Agriculture, Enrique Parada, has said on several occasions.
Starting this year, the agricultural packages have four inputs: 22 pounds of certified H-59 Maize seed, a quintal of granulated fertilizer, a seed treater and a foliar fertilizer.
The seed treater prevents plant loss due to soil and foliar pest attacks, while the soil and foliar fertilizers provide balanced plant nutrition and good ear formation.
In addition, more than 550 agricultural specialists from MAG and other institutions related to agriculture are available to provide technical assistance to farmers.
This assistance is provided in two modalities, the first, when the agricultural packages are delivered, which is related to the proper use of the seed treater, and the second, related to the application of foliar fertilizer and granular fertilizer, this directly during the growth of plantations.
The Centro Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuaria y Forestal (CENTA), Instituto Salvadoreño de Transformación Agraria (ISTA) and students from the Escuela Nacional de Agricultura (ENA) are also involved in these training sessions for farmers.
To date, since the distribution of agricultural packages began on May 16, more than 290,000 blocks of land have been planted, and the second week of this month the packages will be delivered to farmers in the eastern zone.
