Treasury presents 4 cases for alleged evasion of US$7,252,365 in taxes

Through the notices presented by the Minister of Finance, Alejandro Zelaya, on Thursday of Evaders, three representatives of companies and a businesswoman were accused by the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) for four cases of evasion related to Income Tax and Value Added Tax (VAT).

The total amount that the State did not receive due to the non-compliance of such tax obligations amounts to US$7 million 252 thousand, 365.

Between the Ministry of Finance and the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR), they seek to give continuity to the notices presented by this Ministry and to effectively prosecute them, and thus recover the resources that belong to the country's coffers.

The Anti-evasion Plan implemented by the Central Government since october 2019, is part of the fiscal policy with emphasis on revenues with the recovery of funds foregone due to tax evasion.

To date, a total of 157 cases have been filed for alleged offenses to the Treasury before the Directorate for the Defense of State Interests of the FGR, for an amount of US$143.1 million.

The Central Government seeks to continue strengthening the fight against tax evasion in order to recover the resources that belong to the population and allocate them to investments in education, security, health and infrastructure, and remains firmly committed to pursuing businessmen who threaten the development and growth of the country.
