Salvadorans may file or pay their income tax returns until midnight tonight

Written by Evelyn Alas

Salvadorans who have not filed their income tax return, have until today to do so. The Ministry of Finance is calling taxpayers to file their tax returns on time, in order to avoid fines and setbacks.

Taxpayers must access the website of the Ministry of Finance www.mh.gob.sv under the Servicios en Línea de la Dirección General de Impuestos Internos (DGII). There, the taxpayer can find the automatic calculation of his income, expenses and tax withheld that lead him to define his Income Tax (ISR) filing.

The online process and service are available for individuals and legal entities until midnight tonight, in order to facilitate access. With the homologation of the Número de Identidad Tributaria (NIT) with the Documento Único de Identidad (DUI), individuals can access the platform using the DUI, while legal entities (companies) and foreigners will continue to access online services through their NIT.

The offices that will extend their services are located in Complejo Tres Torres, first floor, Centro de Atención al Contribuyente and the regional offices of Santa Ana and San Miguel, according to the following schedule:

Saturday, april 30 from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon

Monday, may 2 from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 midnight

These extended hours apply to the following offices and services: Tax and Customs Debt Collection Division (request for payment in installments), collection division, Central Collection Offices (tax payment), directorate of Internal Taxes (updating of passwords to file online returns).

The Taxpayer Service Centers in the interior of the country will work normal business hours from monday to friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
