You have time to file your income tax return until may 2, 2022

Written by Evelyn Alas

Citizens who have not yet filed the Income Tax Return corresponding to 2021 still have seven days to do so. Next may 2 is the deadline to do so, informed the Ministry of Finance, through the Dirección General de Impuestos Internos (DGII).

This Ministry called on taxpayers to file their tax returns on time, in order to avoid fines for delays.

Taxpayers must enter the Ministry of Finance website www.mh.gob.sv under the DGII Online Services tab. There, the taxpayer can find the automatic calculation of his income, expenses and tax withheld that lead him to define his Income Tax (ISR) filing.

The online process and service are available for individuals and legal entities 24 hours a day, in order to facilitate access. With the homologation of the Número de Identidad Tributaria (NIT) with the Documento Único de Identidad (DUI), natural persons may access the platform using the DUI, while legal entities (companies) and foreigners will continue to access online services through their NIT.

The ISR filing is only through the digital system, which brings important benefits: it reflects accurate information of income and ISR withholding, reported by withholding agents on behalf of the taxpayer, indicates whether or not he/she is obliged to file a return, allows printing the payment order, avoiding inconsistencies and inaccuracies of the amount and avoids queues to avoid having to go to the Treasury offices. You can pay in installments up to a maximum of six installments or make partial payments up to april 30, interest free.
