Uber and InDriver could be legalized in the country, but drivers would earn less

Transportation services through apps could be legalized in the country, generating reactions from drivers of such platforms.

Uber and InDriver drivers are in agreement that a debate should begin in the Legislative Assembly on the proposal to make these services legal. They assure that encounters with traffic agents, are one of the main inconveniences on the roads, due to the fact that it is not a legal service and therefore they impose fines on them.

If the Uber and InDriver service is legalized, they would have to pay at least US$100 per year for the permit to circulate and offer rental service; as this is what cabs currently charge them.

Motorists who offer this service pay a weekly percentage of between 20% and 40% commission of the total of their trips to the platforms; this varies according to the rating that customers place on the driver on the platform, which ranges from 1 to 5, with 1 being the lowest rating and 5 being the highest.

Drivers claim that, although legalization is a benefit, it is also counterproductive because it would affect their profits.

For the cab drivers sector, legalizing the drivers of these platforms would be the best thing to do, since up to now, they are only unfair competition; since they do pay annual taxes for providing the service.
