Treasury submitted 10 Plan Antievasión notices and one for Anti-Smuggling to the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR)

The Minister of Finance, Alejandro Zelaya, presented to the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR), 10 notices of the Plan Antievasión amounting to US$4.3 million between taxes and fines. In addition, under the Plan Anti contrabando, they presented a notice for US$2.3 million.

The fight against tax evasion and smuggling are among the main priorities of the Central Government, which has led to the identification of US$420 million and US$21 million, respectively, in notices filed up to september.

"I would also like to remind that to date the Tax Amnesty is still in force, so that those who have outstanding debts with the Treasury and can regularize their situation, have until December 10 of this year", said Finance minister Alejandro Zelaya.

The notices presented by the Minister of Finance that are part of the Plan Antievasión correspond to internal taxed operations and undeclared tax debits and income tax withholdings made and not reported, undeclared taxed accounts, use and possession of tax credit vouchers to document non-existent operations.

The notice filed by the Plan Anticontrabando corresponds to smuggling of goods and usurpation of the Tax Identification Number (NIT), by a distributor and exporter of fruits and vegetables.

In addition, the general director of Customs, Samadhy Martinez, was present and expressed that the General Directorate of Customs works 24 hours a day and 7 days a week to streamline the trade process. "With the Plan Anticontrabando we are committed to return the money to the State's coffers", she said.

The deputy director of Internal Taxes, Luis Cañas, reiterated that the DGII team, continues to carry out investigations to determine possible cases of evasion.

"We have a work team that carries out very good investigations. We want to tell businessmen, to rely on good tax advisors to comply with the Tax Code, otherwise they will be in the next #JuevesDeEvasores", said Luis Cañas.
