The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) indicated, through its Annual Economic Impact Report (EIR), that by the end of this year the sector's contribution to El Salvador's GDP will exceed pre-pandemic levels, as it will contribute US$3.6 billion to the national economy, 8.3% above what was registered in 2019.

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) approved a $106 million loan to support the expansion and recovery of El Salvador's tourism sector. The operation aims to improve sector competitiveness by increasing tourism spending per visitor, increasing employment, and reducing gender gaps in the sector, as well as improving the environmental sustainability of the country's tourism destinations.

In view of the entry into force of Legislative Decree 90, which suspends concentration activities and public events, the Ministry of Tourism clarified that tourism related activities continue as normal, but urged the sector to reinforce sanitary measures to guarantee safe operations and avoid contagion of its clients and personnel.
