The president of the Defensoría del Consumidor, Ricardo Salazar, gave the conference "Scope and challenges of consumer protection in the use of digital technologies in El Salvador", to contribute to the technical legal approach to consumer protection in the context of technological transformations in global markets and in the country.

The Defensoría del Consumidor (DC) presented this friday in the framework of the national and World Day of Consumer rights a remarkable achievement report that evidences the most important advances for the protection of consumers in El Salvador.

At a national level to protect the pockets of salvadorans, teams from the Defensoría del Consumidor, inspect wholesale and retail stores, in order to avoid speculation and unjustified price increases in vegetables and fruits.

To date, the Defensoría del Consumidor (DC) reports 30 cases in which a sanctioning process has been activated, which may result in sanctions of up to 500 minimum wages for unjustified price increases, these cases are linked to products such as potatoes, onions, tomatoes, among other basic food basket products.

In view of the economic measures implemented by the Government of El Salvador, Ricardo Salazar, President of the Defensoría del Consumidor, stated that inflation in El Salvador closed july at 7.5%, while in Guatemala it reached 8.4%, 10.9% in Honduras and 11.5% in both Costa Rica and Nicaragua.

The deputy of Nuevas Ideas (NI), and president of the Financial Commission, Dania González, summoned representatives of the Asociación Bancaria Salvadoreña (ABANSA), Superintendencia del Sistema Financiero (SSF), Banco Central de Reserva (BCR), and the Defensoría del Consumidor (DC), for next friday to put an end to financial abuses.
