El Salvador, as is its culture, makes its first plantings in the period commonly known as PRIMERA or PRIMAVERA (beginning of rains in a normal winter, from the first weeks of may to june) as second plantings which is called POSTRERAS (scattered rains from august to the wetlands in areas where river flows decrease due to the onset of dry season or areas where irrigation is available).

The guild recommends all producers to start planting from june 5 to minimize the risk of the El Niño phenomenon predicted by the National Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for the months of july and august.

Also, CAMPO explained that they are requesting the authorities of this Ministerio del Medio Ambiente y Recurso Naturales (MARN) to keep them informed in an early manner everything related to the weather and the behavior of the winter.
