According to the adjustment that comes into effect as of april 15 of this year, the price of electric energy to be transferred to the tariff will have a reduction of 4.31%, being US$133.45/MWh and will be in effect until july 14, 2023.
The factors that influenced this reduction in energy prices were the important contribution of renewable generation sources, which reached 67.06% of the total energy production in the previous quarter, and the contribution of Natural Gas generation.
Geothermal energy contributed 20.15%, hydroelectric generation injected 17.78%, sugar mills (biomass) 18.09%, while solar and wind generation contributed 8.13% and 2.91%, respectively.
The Liquefied Natural Gas plant, located in Acajutla, Sonsonate, generated 29.86% of the total energy matrix in the last quarter.
The average international price of Bunker C and Brent with which the energy price of long-term contracts backed by thermal generation was defined during the first quarter of 2023, registered a significant decrease with respect to the last quarter of 2022.
This reflects that El Salvador is a country with a sustainable, clean and environmentally friendly energy matrix.
It should be noted that the Central Government will continue to grant the electricity subsidy to families that consume up to 105 kWh per month.
