MAG delivers fertilizers to wetland producers in Suchitoto

Written by Evelyn Alas

Thanks to the donation made by the People's Republic of China to the Government of El Salvador, the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG) began the distribution of 6,553 quintals of fertilizers for the direct benefit of farmers who produce in wetlands, irrigation districts and with access to other water resources.

Minister Óscar Guardado verified the beginning of the deliveries in the municipality of Suchitoto, Cuscatlán, to guarantee transparency in the distribution.

The head of MAG explained that the producers who received the fertilizers were selected with the accompaniment of the extensionists of the Centro Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuaria y Forestal (CENTA), who work in the field hand in hand with our farmers.

"This international cooperation will support small producers at the national level who harvest constantly, even in this summer season. "It is good for me that the minister came, because years ago we received aid and did not receive it", said Luis Zamora, who will use the fertilizer for his cornfield.

The Director of Operations, Jimmy Orellana, emphasized that the articulated work of the central government with the municipalities is fundamental to get closer to the producers, and reiterated that the choice of the beneficiaries was made with the advice of the extension agencies of the Centro Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuaria y Forestal.

The minister explained that the distribution will continue simultaneously at the national level to support farmers and contribute to local production, guaranteeing food security for salvadoran families.

The verification was also attended by the mayor of Suchitoto, Denis Miranda, and the vice-governor of Cuscatlán, Guadalupe Campos, who assured citizens that these actions are part of a joint effort to bring supplies even closer to homes.
