Foundation highlights that inflation in El Salvador will reach 7% in january 2023

Regarding monthly inflation as of january 2023, according to data researched by the Foundation, El Salvador has achieved a 7% rate, showing a 3% decrease compared to the previous month.

As it is known, an accelerated rate of price growth causes serious repercussions in the family economy, especially of the population with less resources, causing an increase in hunger and poverty, which undoubtedly requires that the States assume a more leading role in social protection.

The study details that the Basic Food Basket in december 2021 and december 2022, it was identified that the price of the same indicates an increase of 13.5% in the salvadoran nation.

Likewise, the report highlights that 9 of the 10 countries in the region covered by the study show double-digit increases in the price of the basic food basket, which somehow reflects the worsening of economic conditions in the Latin American population, mainly in the excluded sectors and those with less purchasing power.

To the extent that increases in the Minimum Wage are lower than those experienced in the Basic Food Basket, there is a greater deterioration in the purchasing power of the population, affecting their living conditions and quality of life.
