In the absence of financial services in physical agency for vacation, avoid fraud online

Written by Evelyn Alas

The August holiday season is here and this is the time when more people are demanding to make purchases and payments online, so you should take care of your information carefully.

This season is crucial for bank criminals to take advantage so that you can fall into a fraud trap because you are doing your transactions not in a physical banking agency but on the web.

1-Through calls: One of the most common forms of fraud is through a phone call. It consists of a supposed notice from the bank, informing about a computer problem or unusual movements in your accounts or cards.

The person on the other end of the line often uses similar customer service etiquette and in some cases even plays music or advertising messages from the bank in the background.

2-By email: In this type of fraud they may recreate websites that look like a bank and send the link to your email address, which at some point will ask for your login and personal information.

That is why you should not open any link that arrives by mail, but should be verified before, because even if you did not get to enter sensitive information, it could also be a download link to malicious programs that give access to control your device (cell phone, computer or tablet) and thus obtain the information they need to know to subtract money from your accounts.

3-The latest: Frauds through social networks, pompous promotions or sweepstakes from profiles that appear to be from banking institutions, and even paying advertising, have been identified recently.

Facebook and Twitter, for example, allow you to see the creation date of each page or profile, as well as the number of followers and other publications. With just a quick glance you can see whether it is an official profile or not.
