The Legislative Assembly approved with 79 votes in favor the budgetary reinforcement to deliver close to 600 thousand Agricultural Packages through the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería.

With the Reform to the Budget Law 2022, presented by the Minister of Finance, Alejandro Zelaya, together with the Vice Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Lily Pacas, there will be US$13.5 million more for the benefit of basic grains farmers and the entire population, reaching a total of US$50 million for national production.

Minister Zelaya explained that this budgetary reinforcement comes as a measure in the context of international inflation and the World Bank (WB) report that warns of food shortages and famine in the coming years.

Likewise, the minister of Finance emphasized that the Central Government will support close to 600,000 producers with the seed program, which now includes more inputs, such as fertilizers, seed treatment and technical assistance. At the same time, the aid will be reflected in the pockets of the population, since final consumers will not suffer increases in basic grain products and their derivatives.
