90.9% of salvadorans say that the prices of basic food basket products have increased

A survey conducted by RP Consultora, reports on the economic situation of salvadoran households, asking if salvadorans have noticed any increase in the price of the basic food basket, improvements in their homes with the increase in the minimum wage, and how their family economic situation is this year and also for 2022.

90.9% of the population said that they have seen an increase in the prices of the basic food basket and second necessity products and 9.1% said they have not.

In addition, in the survey, salvadorans were asked if they have benefited from the minimum wage increase, 15.5% answered yes and 84.5% said they have not.

Regarding the family economic situation, 4.5% of the population said it has improved, 49.5% said it has remained the same, and 46% said it has worsened.

Salvadorans indicated in the survey that their family's economic situation for next year 18.2% said it will be better than now, 51.5% said it will remain the same as now and 30.3% said it will be worse than now.

Bitcoin era in El Salvador

During the survey, salvadorans were asked if they have knowledge about the bitcoin law, how the cryptocurrency works, benefits, use of the app, bitcoin to dollar transfer, among others.

The implementation of the bitcoin circulation, 18.2% of the population said they do not know the law that establishes the legal course of the cryptocurrency, 50% said they know it a little and 31.8% said they do not know it at all.

12.4% of the people said they do not know how bitcoin works, 48.2% said they know little about it and 39.4% said they do not know anything about it.

For 68.2% of the population said that the implementation of bitcoin is not a good decision to improve El Salvador's economy.

54.5% of salvadorans stated that the beneficiaries of the implementation of bitcoin will be people linked to the laundering of assets derived from illicit activities, 22.7% said the general population, 13.6% said the Central Government, and 9.2% said private companies or foreign capital.

45.5% of people said that there was a low interest in the use of bitcoin during the first week of its implementation, as for the downloading of the Chivo Wallet 68.3% of the population said that they have no interest in downloading the digital wallet.
