The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the Republic of Korea approved a US$600,000 non-reimbursable technical cooperation grant from the Korea-CABEI Single Donor Trust Fund (KTF) to support the Government of El Salvador in the development of the necessary studies for the modernization of the Guluchapa water supply system.

These resources are expected to provide a comprehensive diagnosis and technical evaluation of the current water supply system and infrastructure, as well as recommendations for designing the water resource management structure and the solar photovoltaic project for the water system.

In addition, an economic and financial analysis will be conducted to determine the viability of the proposed investments and a socio-environmental impact assessment and management plan.

"The water and sanitation sector continues to be one of our priorities and one in which we have made significant investments in the countries of the region. With this technical cooperation, we seek to strengthen the country's technical and operational capacity to manage the water supply system, which will increase the reliability and accessibility of the resource for salvadorans", said CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi.

In addition, in order to adapt the Republic of Korea's experience and best practices in the field of water resource management, workshops will be held to strengthen the capacities of the institutional personnel of the Administración Nacional de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (ANDA).
