Tigo celebrates 30 years thanking its customers for their preference

Tigo El Salvador celebrated 30 years of trajectory in the country with various activities in support of its customers. Tigo's prepaid and postpaid mobile customers will have this day 3 gigabytes free to navigate in Tik Tok which must be activated in Mi Tigo App. They will also have 4 days of free access to 5 Universal Premium channels (Premiere, Cinema, Comedy, Crime and Reality) automatically on their cable from july 21 to 24 and access to postpaid devices with up to 60% discount until july 28.

In addition, given that at the center of Tigo's strategy is the experience of its customers, the company carried out an activity in which more than 350 employees took to parks, squares and shopping malls in the country to get closer to its customers, thank them for their preference and listen to their opinions about their experience with the brand and its services.

Tigo continuously listens to its customers through digital opinion surveys after each point of contact with them, which allows it to know their opportunities for improvement, as well as the attributes they value most. In addition to the activities carried out on this day, customers who have been with the brand for 29 and 30 years will receive personalized awards. Tigo, more than a telecommunications company in El Salvador

Tigo in history

In 1992 the company TELEMOVIL El Salvador was founded, which in 2004 took the commercial brand TIGO. Since its inception the company invested in the establishment of analog networks, which later became digital, 2G, 3G, 4G and 4.5G. Over the years the company lived the evolution of technology of mobile and fixed networks and mobile devices available to the salvadoran market. In 2008 TIGO acquired AMNET, bringing residential services to salvadorans.

The company surprised in 2011, when it launched its financial inclusion tool TIGO Money to the market, which became the first  Sociedad Proveedora de Dinero Electrónico del país in the country in 2018.

In 2014 TIGO consolidated its position as a leader in comprehensive digital services by launching TIGO Star, TIGO Music, Tigo Money App and TIGO Business. In january 2016 it launched its high-definition channel:

TIGO Sports, the first sports platform in the country with FULL HD technology. In addition, TIGO innovated in 2016 (6 years ago!) by partnering with Netflix so that its customers could contract this service through TIGO's residential services.

Year after year TIGO has been adding alliances and offering the best content to its customers, such as Amazon Prime Video (March 2019), HBO Max and Paramount + (January 2022). In 2019, TIGO revolutionizes the way of watching TV with ONE TV and in may 2021, launches version 2.0 with new modalities available.

In 2019, TIGO publicly announced that it would invest $500 million over the next 5 years inç digital infrastructure that included the expansion and modernization of its fixed and mobile networks. It was in October of that year when it was announced that TIGO was the first operator to test the 4G network in the AWS spectrum and in december it acquired new radio spectrum with which, in february 2020 it announced the start of its massive deployment of 4.5G technology for the first time in the country.

In january 2021, Ookla, the world leader in mobile and fixed broadband network testing, data and analytics applications, recognized TIGO as the operator with the fastest mobile and fixed internet in El Salvador, for offering its customers the fastest upload, download and response time.

In september 2021, Tigo becomes the first Tigo/Millicom operation in the region to adapt its platforms to receive bitcoin as a payment currency, a process it successfully developed in the country. In october, Tigo Money announced that the electronic wallet could now be used from any network, taking an important step towards financial inclusion for salvadorans.

In 2021, TIGO was recognized by Derecho & Negocios magazine as Company of the Year, was recognized for the 5th consecutive year as the preferred telephone company of salvadorans and listed among the 14 leading companies in the region by El Economista magazine and its CEO, Edgard Grande, was among the 30 CEOs leading the region.

In 2022, around the 30th anniversary of its operations in the country, TIGO celebrates the preference of its customers, the support of its allies, the accompaniment and talent of its employees and plans to celebrate its presence and impact in the country with a series of activities that will bring unique experiences to salvadorans.
