As part of his visit to El Salvador, Millicom/Tigo CEO Mauricio Ramos and other company executives met with the 12 most outstanding women microentrepreneurs of Tigo's digital education program "Conectadas" as well as representatives of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Fundación Empresarial para la Acción Social (FUNDEMAS), key partners of the project, to learn first-hand about their experiences.

Some of the participating women have had growth of more than 300% thanks to the use of the digital tools they learned in "Conectadas".

"Conectadas" is a digital education program that contributed to closing the digital and financial gap for women entrepreneurs, by providing them with group and individual digital technical assistance in the use of digital tools such as WhatsApp Business, Digital Marketing, digital inventories and customer service techniques. Training in values and female empowerment was also provided with the support of UN Women.

As a nationwide program, the successful "Conectadas" come from the departments of San Salvador, La Unión, San Miguel, Usulután and La Libertad and lead businesses such as stores, chalets, hardware stores, boutiques, cereal sales and medical sales.

"It is truly inspiring to see our purpose of building digital highways that connect people, improve their lives and develop our communities come to life with these initiatives. Seeing these women transform themselves digitally and transform the lives of their families and communities confirms to us that women have the power to bring economic growth and development to countries", said Mauricio Ramos, CEO of Millicom/Tigo.

"Conectadas' has changed my life. I learned how to use Whatsapp Business, how to organize my clients, how to do digital inventories, how to create social networks for my business and much more. I am proud of what I have achieved and I am grateful for the opportunity they gave me to participate in this project", said Karen Menjívar, participant of "Conectadas", and who received a visit from Mauricio Ramos in her business "Venta de medicinas Karen" in the Santa Tecla market.
