Apopa is a municipality with a strategic location bordered to the north by the municipalities of Nejapa and Guazapa, to the south by Ciudad Delgado, Mejicanos, Ayutuxtepeque and Cuscatancingo, and adjacent to the Troncal del Norte, the main highway leading to the north of El Salvador, making it a transit point for thousands of salvadorans.

In this municipality is home to a large number of factories dedicated to the textile industry and where cement bricks, metal products, etc. are manufactured. It also has three shopping malls, several supermarkets, pharmacies, hairdressers, fast food restaurants and a variety of stores.

In addition, Apopa has 8 cantons, 38 hamlets, 31 urbanizations, 38 colonies, 49 subdivisions, 12 communities, 7 residential and 4 parcelaciones, making a total of 182 population settlements, where a strong economic activity is generated for the northern area of the capital and its surroundings.
