El Salvador receives ship with 2,000 tons of food for Emergency Health Program

Written by Sandy Velasco

The Government received the ship NYK Maria that brought to the country more than 2 thousand metric tons of food that will be used to continue with the delivery of the food packages of the Emergency Health Program (PES).

The ship docked at pier C-7/8 in the Port of Acajutla, Sonsonate, where it unloaded two thousand metric tons of food, that had been distributed in 90 containers.

With this shipment of food, the government institutions are preparing the solidarity baskets that are delivered house by house, throughout the country, to the families affected by the Covid-19 emergency.

Prior to their distribution, the basic necessities are adequately disinfected in order to prevent any spread of the contagious virus.

The delivery of PES food packages continues this Monday with the support of the Ministry of Housing, which distributes these supplies to families in the municipality of Coatepeque, in the department of Santa Ana.

In this place they will deliver about 1,100 food packages to families affected by the emergency generated by the pandemic, which has limited the economic activities of part of the population.
