The contest will be carried out under strict biosecurity measures to have the least contact and prevent COVID-19. This will be the eighteenth edition of the " Taza de Excelencia " contest that has been held with the objective of choosing the best exhibitors of salvadoran coffee in the international coffee industry.
For this year the most important stages and dates for the development of the Taza de Excelencia contest are the following:
-Calibration of Judges: April 14th and 15th.
-Reception of samples: from April 26 to 30.
Sample pre-selection: from May 3 to 7.
-Delivery of lots to benefit: May 12 to 20.
-National Jury: from May 24 to 28.
-International Jury: June
-Preparation and shipment of samples: June
-Electronic Auction: August 10.
This program will be open to all national producers who wish to participate in the contest regardless of the geographical location of the farm they represent, but the MAG informs that it is essential to have updated the data used for registration in the Producers Registry of the CSC, to be solvent with the Council and to comply with the laws in force.

The Council intends that the producers achieve international recognition and that this in turn generates a long term commercial relationship and also establishes links between the producer of high quality coffee, the buyer and the consumer.
Since the first " Taza de Excelencia " contest 493 lots have been auctioned and 12,418 have been sold at auction of which US$1,365 has been the average selling price, US$9,570 has been the maximum price paid per quintal, and US$95.70 the maximum price paid per pound.
