"We are aiming for an inclusive and comprehensive transformation, which will allow us to address the binomial of poverty and its link with climate vulnerability, as well as the dissemination of sustainable agricultural systems that improve the productive potential of our people, especially youth and women", said the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Adriana Mira.

The Government of El Salvador, with support from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of South Korea and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), based in that country, will launch an initiative to strengthen the capacities of women and youth in productivity, under the model of climate-smart agriculture.

The launching of this project is part of the actions and approaches sustained by the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Alexandra Hill, during her official visit to the Asian nation in 2022.

"This initiative will identify, demonstrate and disseminate sustainable agricultural systems that increase the productive potential, which will improve the living conditions of our rural communities. It will intervene at the national level with early warning systems and with a special focus on San Miguel and Usulután, as they are part of the Dry Corridor. Opportunities include the dissemination of best practices and the development of technical capacities Agricultura Climáticamente Inteligente (CSA)", said the minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Óscar Guardado.

"On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Korea, I am proud to launch this project and we are pleased to support with funding for El Salvador. We share the vision of a sustainable world and economic growth for green development. I firmly believe that the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock will contribute to climate change adaptation and strengthen salvadoran young and women farmers", said Yea Hyun Lee, Chargé d'Affaires of the Korean Embassy.

The diplomat also stressed that the agricultural sector remains one of the fundamental pillars of our economy, besides being one of the main sources of livelihood, employment and income for the population residing in rural areas of our country, who suffer directly from the effects of climate change.
