Fundación la Niñez Primero presents the book "El Juego que Sana"

Written by Evelyn Alas

Fundación La Niñez Primero officially presented its first book "El Juego que sana, intervención lúdica hospitalaria en El Salvador". A work that shows the experience and validation of 17 years of incorporating the hospital play intervention in El Salvador through our Ludotecas NAVES projects.

The book develops various topics related to play in hospital contexts such as play and its therapeutic impact, stimulation of resilience, assertive communication of bad news, emotional support techniques during medical processes, among others.

"The purpose of the book is to contribute to a solution by providing theoretical and methodological elements from a humanistic perspective, which will move away from viewing the child and his or her family as an object in question", said Luis Guzmán, head of the Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital Nacional de Niños Benjamín Bloom.

The construction of the content of this work has been thanks to the experience and contribution of more than 127, 396 children who opened their hearts to us and allowed us to accompany them during their hospitalization, recovery, and in many cases, in their final stage of life, at the Hospital Nacional de Niños Benjamín Bloom, pediatric area of the Hospital Nacional San Rafael y San Juan de Dios, Santa Ana, where our NAVES Ludotecas operate.

We thank the doctors and nurses of our network of hospitals who have believed and validated our interventions, our board of directors, altruistic and committed people with the mission and vision of the foundation that since 2002 have sustained, with the certainty of the high socioemotional impact that the toy libraries generate in salvadoran children.

To our partners, Fundación Gloria de Kriete, Fundación Lolo and Fundación Rafael Meza Ayau; strategic allies whose contribution and support allow us to provide sustainable support to pediatric patients in the hospitals where we work.

To our wonderful team, committed professionals who have made possible the implementation of the NAVES Ludotecas hospital program since 2005 as pioneers in Central America and who, with their commitment, motivation and specialization, have managed to impact thousands of children through playful intervention.

The book will be available for physical sale at a special price of $15.00 dollars and can be purchased by calling: (503) 2275-7046 / 2275-7774.

Fundación La Niñez Primero was founded in 2002, with the primary objective of promoting the right to recreation for the children of El Salvador.

Through play, it promotes the physical, social and emotional development of children, the appropriate use of free time, and supports the prevention of social risks, mainly gangs and drugs. Currently, there are five types of NAVES Ludotecas: Mobile, School, Therapeutic, Early Childhood and Hospital, the latter being the ones that were the object of study for the realization of this first book.
