To renew the passport, citizens can go to any of the eight branches of the DGME that operate in different areas of the country. The cost of the document is US$25.00.
The passport for minors is advisable to process it in advance, for such purpose, it is required to present the birth certificate of the applicant and the Documento Único de Identidad (DUI) of both parents.
"If you are planning to travel to another country during your next vacations, it is important that you have your passport in good condition and in force. You can obtain your Salvadoran passport in an average time of 30 minutes. Apply for it for the first time or renew it at any of our eight branches in the country", reiterates the DGME.
In the case of minors under 18 years of age, who are scheduled to travel to another country under the supervision of airline personnel, they must present a departure authorization at the time of immigration control.
"If a child or adolescent will travel to another country without one or both parents, he/she must present an exit permit prepared by an authorized notary.
