The Central Government, through the Comisión Ejecutiva Hidroeléctrica del Río Lempa (CEL), entrusted the planning, construction and operation of this new plant to its subsidiary company Inversiones Energéticas (INE).
The company added that this year it will continue to make history with the construction of Talnique Solar, the first solar photovoltaic plant in El Salvador. Its start-up is scheduled for december 2023.
Talnique Solar will have an installed capacity of 17 megawatts peak thanks to the 29,600 bifacial solar panels placed on a plot of land of approximately 19 blocks. It will generate renewable energy for 25,000 salvadoran households that consume an average of 100 kWh.
The fact that the panels are bifacial means that they are plates that transform sunlight into electrical energy both at the top and at the bottom, which absorbs the light reflected on the ground. This translates into an additional production of electrical energy.
The maximum production is also guaranteed with an adequate cleaning of the panels, which will be carried out in Talnique Solar by robots programmed for this task.
