Uber introduces new tools to prioritize the safety of driver partners in El Salvador

Written by Evelyn Alas

Listening to driver partners in El Salvador and the improvements they want to see in the Uber app, starting this week, the technology company announced that upon receiving a request in the app, driver partners will be able to see information regarding the verification method implemented for each user, as well as detailed information about the destination.

In this way, the technology company reaffirms its commitment to respond to the needs of driver-partners and improve their experience on the platform.

"At Uber, we are constantly developing, investing and implementing technology to provide greater security, trust and peace of mind to driver-partners who choose to use the Uber app. Driver-partners had expressed their interest in knowing the final destination of the trip, as well as having more verification information about the user before the trip begins. Therefore, in recent months, we have conducted several pilots in several cities in Latin America, to evaluate and adapt a tool that allows this without affecting the user experience, and is now available for those who drive with the app in El Salvador", said Manuela Bedoya, Uber's safety communication manager for the Andean region, Central America and the Caribbean.

In this way, driver-partners in El Salvador, upon receiving a trip request in the app, will be able to see information regarding the verification method implemented for each user, such as credit card, social networks or the scanning of an identity document. Additionally, they will have more information about the destination, including the end point and the user's route, such as if the destination is to Zona Rosa or Colonia San Francisco.

This feature is in addition to the more than 30 security tools available to driver-members in El Salvador, such as the ability to share their trips with trusted contacts; Ridecheck technology to detect anomalies such as route deviations; the button to connect directly to 911 in case of emergency; 24/7 support; and PIN code to verify that they are entering the correct vehicle.
