The average price of energy to be transferred to tariffs will have a reduction of 2.56% for the next quarter, which will benefit the pockets of the salvadoran population.
This decrease also occurs after the Central Government kept fixed the prices of electricity to be transferred to the population, during 2022, as a measure to mitigate the impact of international inflation.
Among the factors according to SIGET that influenced the drop in energy prices was the contribution of renewable energies in the fourth quarter of 2022 (hydroelectric, solar, geothermal, wind and biomass), which accounted for 75.9% of total production. This shows the consolidation of a sustainable and environmentally friendly energy matrix.
In addition, the generation from natural gas was 16.29% in the previous quarter, meeting the objective of diversification of the energy matrix. And for the period from october to december 2022, fuel prices showed a significant decrease compared to the previous quarter.
The new energy prices will be in effect from january 15 to april 14 of the current year.
Likewise, the Central Government maintains the subsidy to all families that consume up to 105 kWh per month.
