The different electric energy companies informed the population through the newspapers, however the General Superintendence of Superintendencia General de Electricidad y Telecomunicaciones (SIGET) Regulatory Entity of the Electricity and Telecommunications sectors in El Salvador has not pronounced itself so far.
Something important to note is that the Dirección de Energía, Hidrocarburos y Minas de El Salvador shared that by 2023 the State's electricity generators generated 209.03 GWh of energy in the country, benefiting more than 2 million salvadorans.
This amount of energy came from four energy generating companies which are: La Geo, La Comisión Ejecutiva Hidroeléctrica del Río Lempa (CEL), La Compañía Eléctrica Cucumacayán (CECSA) and INE.
La Geo
La Geo is a company dedicated to the production of electricity, using El Salvador's geothermal resources in a rational and sustainable manner, that is, La Geo uses geothermal energy, which generated 106.97 GWh.
CEL and CECSA
The Comisión Ejecutiva Hidroeléctrica del Río Lempa (CEL) and Compañía Eléctrica Cucumacayán (CECSA) generate energy for El Salvador through hydroelectric power plants, which are facilities that use hydraulic energy for power generation.
CECSA generated 3.16 GWh.
CEL generated 96.66 GWh.
INE
Inversiones Energéticas (INE) generates energy through the Talnique Power Plant which, through nine motor-generators, converts combustion into energy.
INE generated 2.34 GWh.
Energy is very important in the development of the country, for convenient lighting, radio and television communications, telephone services, among others. That is why energy is a core part of households.
